Race Report
The largest half marathon of Central Europe was now organised for the 23rd time in Budapest. Overall almost 7000 runners took part on the event. Besides the 21 095 meter long half marathon distance, the runners could also choose to run the race in a team of 2 runners and there was also a fun run of 3,5 km organised for children and family members. This year the organisers designated a new course leading along the river Danube and in the city center showing the most important sights of Budapest with places that are part of the World Heritage.
The organisers put emphasis on this race on amateur runners, thus no professional runners were invited. The race was won with a moderate winning time of 1:07:22.
Among the runners there were more than 1000 runners from abroad. The majority came from the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, France, Denmark and the USA. There were runners even from such far away countries like New Zealand, Israel and Mexico.
The next Budapest International Half Marathon will be organised on 6 September 2009!

The 23rd Nike Budapest International Half Marathon will start in only 1 week! The course leads through the city center, through the most picturesque parts of the city, places which are part of the World Heritage! The 21,095 km can be run either individually or in pairs. All individual runners receive a unique medal after finishing!

The T-shirt of the race which is a dry fit T-shirt is not included in the registration fee. It can be bought separately at the race center for 15€.
Metropol Breakfast Run28 August 2008
There is a 5,3 km long run the day before the Half Marathon, on the 4th of October, a common joint training for the Half Marathon Runners.
Place: Margaret Island.
Race Center: Close to Arpad Bridge. (Getting there: either by bus number 26 from Arpad Bridge or Nyugati pályaudvar (West Railway Station, or by foot, please note that no cars are allowed on the Island).
Start: 9 o'clock.
Fee: 15€
Nenngeld: 15€

Similarly to the previous years there will be a lot of foreign runners on the race. The majority of the runners will arrive from the United Kingdom, Germany, Denmark, Italy, France, USA.

Music on the Course01 May 2008
Musicians on the course will help the runners both on the half marathon and on the marathon to conquer the selected. The drums of Samba Batucada will cheer you at the start and welcome you at the finish and in between there will be several bands at numerous stations playing various types of music, among them Hungarian national music and Indian blues band.
