Race InformationThe first Budapest Marathon was organised in 1984. During the last 27 years the race grew up into a major event in Budapest with 17 000 runners. 4000 runners on the individual 42 km distance, the others are in teams or run the shorter distances. Budapest Marathon also become a real international event with more than 2 000 runners from abroad, from more than 50 different countries.

3. COURSE
The course is approved by AIMS (Assosiation of International Marathons and Distance Races). It is mostly flat, the only difference in heights are the driveways leading up and down from the bridges. The course guides the runners through the most beautiful parts of the city passing by famous buildings like the Opera House or the Parlamient, participants run along both sides of the city (Buda and Pest) along the river Danube.

TIME LIMIT
The time limit is 5 hours and 30 minutes. The race will be followed by the closing bus which runners can get up on if they suffer an injury or are forced to give up. The closed roads will be opened after the time limit elapses, for this reason those who are caught up by the closing bus must get up on it. Runners who give up or suffer an injury will be transported back to the race centre by the bus. Please return your chip on the bus should this be the case. It is forbidden to keep on running once the bus passes you because roads will be opened to traffic after the time limit. Part time limits are:
• 10K: 1h 18m
• 20K: 2h 36m
• 30K: 3h 55m
• 40K: 5h 13m
• 42K: 5h 30m
AGE LIMIT
We accept entries from runners who were born before the 07 October 1994 (18 years old or older)
CHIP (no chip - no time)
You must wear a chip during the race. You can not participate without one. You can either wear your own chip or you can rent one from us. If you use your own you have to register its number. If
you choose to rent one, you have to leave a deposit for it when picking up the start package.
IMPORTANT: the deoposit is 1000 HUF, and we only can accept exactly 1000 HUF note. (so we cannot accept Euro, Dollar or any other currencies. We can not accept 500 or 2000 or 5000 etc HUF notes either.
RACE NUMBER
The race number must be worn on the chest. Failure to do so will result in disqualification.
SKATES, BIKES, DOGS ETC.
It is forbidden to participate in the race with skates, bicycles, dogs or other pets. Violation of these rules will result in exclusion from the race.
CANCALATION
There is no refund for cancalation, no matter what is the reason behind. Though the registration can be forwarded to the following year. If you wish to do this please write your request to the budapest.run (at) futanet.hu e-mail address.
FAIR SPORTSMAN-LIKE BEHAVIOUR AND OTHER
Fair sportsman-like behaviour is expected of all participants, as well as always keeping to the marked route. The number of entries allowed will be limited upon decision of the organiser. Entry forms will be dealt within the order of their incoming. Early submission of the entry forms will guarantee your participation in the marathon.

START NUMBER AND START PACKAGE PICK UP
All start numbers must be picked up at the race centre during opening hours:
06 October 2012: from 12:00 pm to 18:00 pm
07 October 2012: from 7:00 am to 9:45 am
Tables will be divided according to your start number (eg. 4001-4090) so you can quickly select your table. Obtaining your start number is easier if you have the confirmation letter at hand and can present it on start number pick up. Without a confirmation letter, please check your number on the entry list which will be set up at the race centre. Start packages will be handed over together with the race numbers.
CHIP DEPOSIT

PASTA PARTY
When?: Saturday, 06 October 2012 from 14:00 pm to 18:00 pm
Where?: Next to the race center, where you pick up your start number.
Tickets: Tickets can be bought in the race center.
PERSONAL REFRESHMENTS
You can use your own refreshments.
If you would like to do so you can leave your bottle at the race center at a dedicated desk during the following times:
06 October 2012 from 9:00-18:00
07 October 2012 from 7:30 to 8:45.
We will provide blank stickers and markers so you can label your refreshments. Make sure you write your start number and station number on the label because without this information we cannot get it to the appropriate place for you. We cannot help in giving own refreshments to the runners. Unused bottles and containers of such will be disposed of after the race.

START
Starting times (times are subject to change!):
• 10.00 - Marathon and Marathon Relay/Ekiden start
• 10.15 - Minimarathon start
• 10.55 - Fun Run start
30 km (from different place like the other distances from the 12. km):
• approx. from 10.30 - start according to the runners personal speed.
Start places:
The start gate will be set up on Heroes' Square (Hősök tere) for all distances, about 1000 m from the race center. Except for the 30 km runners. Start for them will be at the 12. km by the Chain Bridge.
Zones at the start (pace minutes/km):
• Within 3:30
• Between 3:30 and 4:00
• Between 4:00-4:30
• Between 4:30-5:00
• Between 5:00-6:00
• Over 6:00
Please stand in the zone appropriate to your pace.
PACE MAKERS
There will be pace makers who run at a stable speed to help amateurs better achieve their own planned time. Each time will have two runners assigned to,and they can be seen from a distance. Finishing times with pace makers:
• 3:00
• 3:30
• 4:00
• 4:30
REFRSESHMENT STATIONS
There will be fifteen refreshment stations along the course, making sure that you acquire the necessary amount of liquid during the race. The first and last stations will provide water while all other stations will offer banana, lemon, glucose, isodrink and water. All stations will be supplying water to wet your sponge.
TOILETS
Toilets will be set up at the start/finish area and beside each refreshment stations.
FIRST AID
First aid will be available from start to finish at multiple locations throughout the course. These are the following: doctors on motorcycles, an ambulance which will follow behind the race, another ambulance will be ready at the Lánchíd (Chain Bridge) in the relay switch area, doctors will constantly circle up and down the course, and finally a first aid station will be set up at the finish line.
FINISH
The finish will be located on 56-osok tere. (500 meters from the Start) Relay runners will have to enter a separate lane. All marathon and 30 km runners will receive a unique medal and a finisher bag upon crossing the finish line. The finish area is reserved only for runners and race staff - friends, relatives and other company may not enter this area. We ask all runners to return their chips to the race centre.

MASSAGE
At the finish area, masseurs will be waiting for those who wish to relax their feet. The massage is free; its duration is about 10 minutes.
MEDAL GRAVING
You can get your medal graved with your name and time in the finishing area if you would like to.

DISTANCE SPECIFIC INFORMATION
8. SPECIFICS ABOUT 30 KM
The start for the 30 km is at the 12 195 meter of the marathon distance, on the lower quay of the Danube, between the Chain Bridge (Lánchíd) and the building of the Parliament. ATTENTION! Runners have to get to the start on their own.From here the course is the same as for the marathon, joining the marathon runners. Start time: about from 10.30 according to the runners personal speed.The runners of the 30 kilometres do not start all together but everybody starts from the time interval of their planned finishing time, thus joining the marathon and relay runners.Why is it important to start in this interval? Because this way you will not be faster or slower than the marathon runners. You will join those who run the marathon in a similar pace like you do the 30 kilometres. The table below shows when you can start. You can choose from 6 time zones
